Abstract/Summary The ability to work in groups and communicate effectively is essential for every science and engineering graduate. In Computing Curricula 1991, the importance of communication and group work was recognized by suggesting that they should be incorporated into classroom lectures, laboratories and extracurricular activities. For the past few years, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Queensland has been experimenting for ways to integrate these skills into tutorials. In this article, a different style of tutorial is presented, and the experience with and feedback on introducing this tutorial in some Computer Science subjects are discussed. In addition the guidelines and recommendations developed for such classes are introduced.
