Abstract The dimensional variability of stone, epoxy and silver plate backed with acrylic resin die/models produced from the same master model was compared before and after transfer of the dies by copings. Significantly greater dimensional variability occurred between the silver-plate acrylic die/models than the stone and epoxy die/models, between which there was no significant difference. Transfer of dies by copings did not significantly affect dimensional variability of the three types of die/models.
