Abstract Selected dimensions of stone, epoxy resin and silver plate backed with acrylic resin models were compared to each other and their master model which simulated the abutments for a FPD. The plated models were significantly different from the stone and epoxy models (between which there was no significant difference) in 2 of 10 selected dimensions. This was attributed to the polymerisation shrinkage of the acrylic resin. All models differed significantly from the master model in some of the selected dimensions.
