Abstract A scheme for the synthesis of Chinese characters from a set of bask radical patterns is described. Each stored radical pattern is encoded to allow a microprocessor to determine and execute the appropriate position shifting and size reduction of the radical patterns forming a particular character. The scheme reduces the use of manually entered shifting and reduction operations to a minimum. Copyright
