Abstract/Summary Time series analysis is a method of empirically identifying the dynamic characteristics of a system directly from data collected from it. In the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland an interactive graphics time series identification and modelling computer package (TSIM) has been developed to largely automate the time series procedure of model identification. The use of this package is demonstrated by the identification and parameter estimation of a transfer function plus noise model for a gas furnace from a set of input-output data.
