Abstract Films of cadmium telluride made by cathodic electrodeposition from an electrochemically purified solution containing readily available chemicals were of greater purity than single crystals purchased as high purity materials from three suppliers, as determined by positive secondary ion mass spectroscopy. The conditions of the electrodeposition and some properties of the films are described.
