Abstract This paper attempts to integrate the fundamental principles of gestalt therepy, communication and system theory to offer a framework for family therapy. Some of the principles which may link gestalt and family therapy discussed are: working in the ‘here and now’, responsibility of each family member for change and valuing encounter.
