Abstract This technical note presents the results of a visualization study performed in a water tunnel facility to investigate the fluid motion at the center of two tubes arranged perpendicular to each other in the geometry of a cross. The experiments were carried out at a Reynolds number of 1 × 104 (based on the tube diameter and freestream velocity), with tube spacings of up to five diameters between axes. These experiments complement a wind tunnel study previously performed by the author.
