Formatted Summary/Description
First published in 1911, Queensland University magazine, was a student magazine published by the University of Queensland Union. The magazine was renamed Galmahra: the magazine of the University of Queensland in 1921.

Galmahra, an Aboriginal word for 'poet, seer, teacher or philosopher amongst the tribes', was named in honour of Galmahra (Jackey Jackey), a member of a tribe of the Merton district near Muswellbrook in New South Wales. Jackey Jackey was a guide and companion to explorer Edmund Kennedy on the Cape York Peninsula expedition in 1848.

The magazine included, in addition to university news, literary articles, reviews, short fiction and verse. The magazine was published each term from 1911 to 1932, then as an annual from 1933 to 1950. Annual editions were published in 1960, 1963 and 1968.

Some notable editors include:
• Sir Harry T Gibbs (Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia)
• Colin Bingham (journalist, poet)
• Percy R. Stephensen (writer, editor, publisher)
• Edgar Holt (journalist, poet)
• Cecil Hadgraft (academic)
• John Denis Fryer (Fryer Library)
