Abstract Omeprazole inhibited two thiamin diphosphate-dependent enzymes, pyruvate decarboxylase (EC, PDC) from Zymomonas mobilis and transketolase (EC, TK) from human erythrocytes. Inhibition of PDC was competitive with the coenzyme with a Ki, value of 42 ± 3 μM, whereas inhibition of TK was complex.
