Formatted abstract
In view of the commitment of Australia's coal and mineral producers to dense medium separation (DMS) the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Center (JKMRC) added DMS research to its programs in comminution, classification and flotation. One of the strengths of the center's research philosophy has been that most of the experimental work and data collection programs have been carried out in operating plants. The present report outlines the principal areas of research within the center's DMS programs, what has been achieved so far and what is proposed for the future.
