Abstract The polynomial Wigner-Ville distribution (PWVD) is a time-frequency signal analysis tool for representing polynomial frequency modulated (FM) signals. In this correspondence, we present an optimization procedure to design PWVD's and discuss the need for higher order PWVD's.
