Abstract An insoluble porphyrin/conjugated polymer hybrid has been prepared via a processible precursor polymer. Binding studies indicate that the porphyrins can adopt a syndiotactic arrangement more easily than an isotactic arrangement along the polymer backbone. Photoluminescence studies of the porphyrin/PPV polymer showed that emission is from the porphyrin. When incorporated into a single layer device, the porphyrin/PPV polymer showed weak electroluminescence.
