Formatted abstract
The lesions shown are from the back of the neck of
a 12-year-old white boy, the leg of a 21-year-old white woman,
and the abdomen of a 31-year-old white woman.
The lesions reveal a targetoid appearance with the blue pigmentation
being present centrally within a larger lesion demonstrating
brown/tan epidermal pigmentation. The etiology of these
lesions is unknown but it is possible that an underlying
mutation results in a clone of cells that expands preferentially
in the epidermis but only focally in the dermis.
