This paper provides an overview of a dynamic analysis carried out on the large-scale Queensland transmission system to determine the potential impact of the PowerformerTM on the voltage stability of this system. The unique aspects of the Powerformer and the impact of location and compensation scheme utilised on the time to collapse following a system contingency will be highlighted and discussed.
