Abstract The new methods of laser microdissection microscopy have received wide acceptance in biology and have been applied in a small number of parasitology investigations. Here, the techniques and applications of laser microdissection microscopy are reviewed with suggestions of how the systems might be used to explore applied questions in parasite molecular biology and host-parasite interactions.
