Professor Dorothy Hill, carved by Rhyl Hinwood, 1982  from sandstone from Helidon Queensland.
This grotesque (G32) is located on the Richards Building in the Great Court at the University of Queensland. Dorothy Hill was University of Queensland Medallist in 1928, appointed research professor in Geology in 1959 and 1960 was the first woman to hold a a full professorship  at a an Australian university. Dorothy Hill was the world authority on palaeozic corals. This grotesque depicted her surrounded by and holding coral.
