Abstract A double modulated source spectrometer incorporating phase-controlled frequency stability has been employed to measure the width and shift parameters for both self- and foreign-gas broadened lines in the microwave spectra of NH3, CH3Cl and OCS. In a systematic study of lines in the NH3 inversion spectra, a dependence on the quantum numbers (J, K) was found for shift parameters, but not for width parameters. The frequency stabilization network, introduced into this form of spectrometer for the first time, is described in the Appendix.
