Abstract Three alkaloids have been extracted from the leaves of A. haplophylla. One is the known 4-hydroxy-2,3-dimethoxy-10-methylacridone. The other two are the new alkaloids acrophylline, 9-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-7- methoxyfuro[2,3b]quinol-4-one, and acrophyllidine, 9-(3-hydroxy-3- methylbutyl)-7-methoxyfuro[2,3-b]quinol-4-one. These structures have been determined and confirmed by synthesis of a reduction product.
