Formatted Abstract/Summary
Peer review is a core component of a researcher’s role. A researcher’s peer review activity is evidence of their service to the community, and is external validation that academic editors deem the researcher to be an expert in their field. Peers review can also be seen as a measure of esteem and is a significant professional workload. Until recently, it was not possible for a university to accurately know the peer review activity of their researchers.

The University of Queensland’s institutional repository, UQ eSpace has undertaken a pilot integration with Publons (publons.com), making it the first university to integrate the reporting of peer review activity data within an institutional repository. This integration will allow UQ researchers to get credit for their peer review work, and enable UQ to gain a picture of the peer review outputs of their researchers as well as how these compare to other universities in Australia and worldwide. This peer review information will be made available to other enterprise systems across the University. ORCID is the identifier used to link researchers across these 2 systems.
