Abstract The cumulative function for the number of failures for a unit which is subjected to minimal repair after each failure is a non-stationary Poisson process. This note presents a simple method for obtaining this result. Reader Aids - Purpose: Provide a simpler derivation Special math needed for derivation: Elementary probability Special math needed to use results: Same Result useful to: Operations researchers, Maintenance analysts.
