Abstract This paper presents experimental data for three types of carbon fibre and two epoxy resin formulations. The data are suitable for checking prediction models for the longitudinal tensile strength of unidirectional fibrous composites. The paper also presents a brief outline of the test methodsused. Some of the fibre characteristics covered by the experimental data include density, diameter, Young's modulus, strength for gauge lengths of 1, 2, 5 and 50 mm, strength-length relationship and strength-modulus relationship.
