Formatted abstract
The kinetics of precipitation and dissolution of Fe16N2 precipitates have been studied in thin foils of Fe—0,05 wt.% N alloys containing known levels of oxygen and phosphorus. The in situ experiments have produced direct evidence for the existence of the interfacial reaction control of the precipitation reaction in oxygen containing alloys. In addition the kinetics of the precipitation and dissolution of Fe16N2 are are shown to be consistent with reaction mechanisms involving the interfacial adsorption of oxygen and phosphorus impurities.
