Formatted abstract
The Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF) or also known as dieless numerical control (NC) process is a new type of technology regarding metal forming. It has the ability to shape single sheet metals into complex 3D shapes without the need to use a die. It has been identified that one of the drawbacks of this process is the inability of the ISF to control its force sensitivity and unable to predict the forming forces while shaping the 3D sheet of metal. This thesis is focused on compiling most of the researches done regarding the force prediction of the ISF which mainly focused on the thickness of metal sheets as the process parameter. It also focused on the construction of a simple control system for the ISF in term of force prediction.

Initially a number of journals regarding a force prediction had been reviewed and being compiled in order to gain understanding of the process. Most of the journals that had been reviewed consists a few parameter which affects the ISF process. This thesis will only compile the researches done based on one parameter which is the sheet metal thickness. Secondly, a simple control system was suggested to be designed with MATLAB programming. The idea of building this control system is to compute a prediction of the force needed to shape the metal sheet based on the thickness of the sheets. However due to the unavailability of the CNC machine, the control system cannot be built. Only the idea of how to build this simple control system is stated in this thesis.
