Formatted Abstract/Summary
Dorothy Hill was born in Brisbane in 1907. She began her studies at the University of Queensland on an Open Scholarship in 1925.  Graduating with First Class Honours in Geology and Mineralogy, she was awarded a Gold Medal for outstanding research.  Following time in England where she received her PhD, she returned to the University of Queensland as a lecturer in Geology. Eventually achieving full Professorial status in 1960, author of numerous publications on geology, she undertook tireless work for the Great Barrier Reef Committee. She oassed away in 1997.
