Abstract There has been steady progress in many areas of fetal medicine, not only in fetal imaging but in areas such as the management of red blood cell alloimmunisation and twin-twin transfusion syndrome, fetal surgery, genomics and stem cell research. However, many interventions that initially seemed promising have not been shown to improve fetal or neonatal morbidity or mortality. This review discusses the effectiveness of some of the newer innovations in fetal therapy.
