Formatted Abstract/Summary
The composition is a setting of a portion of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus proclaims the benefits his followers will have on the wider world. It is placed into a context of celebration and light-filled joy.

Choral and orchestral work setting an excerpt from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:14-16). The composition plays on the theme of light as a literal representation, an analogy of hope, knowledge and courage, and makes extensive use of canonic counterpoint as a means of expressing the communal nature of the description. Commissioned by Clayfield College, the work is six minutes in duration, and is designed to be playable by young musicians, but also fully suited for professional performance.
