It is generally well recognised that research is necessary to support nurses in their delivery of optimal patient care. Yet, despite over a decade of exhortations for British cardiac nurses involved in research to collaborate (Thompson, 2004), little progress seems to have been made. Why is this? No doubt there are numerous reasons, including lack of time, resources, support and, not least, confidence (Clark et al, 2014). While these are legitimate they should not preclude us from working together to engage in research to improve patient care...
