The thesis mainly consists of two parts. The first part illustrates the background study necessary for warranty data analysis. There are four topics in the first part: warranty, reliability, data collection and data analysis. The objective of this part is to discuss how warranty data analysis is a necessary part of production and management in a manufacturing
company. This part also focuses on the basic steps that are taken for data analysis.

The second part focuses on actual warranty claims data. In this thesis, they are automobile tire warranty data. We discuss how basic methods can be used and models can be built under certain assumptions, and finally build a model that best describes the given data sets.
