Additional Notes The first visit by Town Class cruiser HMAS Melbourne to Brisbane in August 1913. She was anchored in the Gardens Reach for several weeks including Exhibition Week. She had a number of social events during her visit as well as being open to the public who came aboard by ferry. The picture clearly shows the cruiser in pre-war condition without the various additions, such as a tripod mast, added during World War One.
