Abstract/Summary Aigospotamoi was a small river issuing into the Hellespont, north of Sestos. In late summer of 405 bce it was the theater of a naval battle between the Spartan and Athenian fleets that marked the end of the Peloponnesian War and of Athens' naval imperialism.
