Formatted Abstract/Summary
Undergraduate research experiences (UREs) improve student engagement, academic achievement, and provide a large range of benefits. We have identified a tension in designing UREs between the authenticity and student ownership of the research. Using several instruments we compared the learning gains from two large scale URE curricula which vary in ownership and authenticity. These findings are informing a national online community of practice, who are promoting and supporting the development evidence-based curricula and academic leadership. Workshop participants will be encouraged to interact with the online community of practice to provide their international perspectives.
