Abstract/Summary We demonstrate an optomechanical magnetometer based on microtoroidal resonators that combines the giant magnetostriction of Terfenol-D with the ultrahigh optical transduction sensitivity of microtoroids and achieves detection sensitivities in the range of nT Hz -1/2.
