Summary

The author describes a modification of existing methods for finding the forces in the members of a redundant frame. By the use of trigonometrical resolution or otherwise, the forces in all members are written on the frame. Then each redundant bay in the structure is considered by itself, and from the strains in the six members of the bay an equation is formed which contains some of the unknown forces. Two numerical examples are used to illustrate its application.
