Abstract/Summary Sir Pope Alexander Cooper, 1846 - 1923, was born and educated in NSW. He travelled to England to further his education in 1868. Returning to Australia he was admitted to the Queensland bar in 1874, appointed to the northern seat of the Supreme Court in 1883 and was eventually appointed Chief Justice of Queensland 1903. In 1912 Cooper joined the Senate of the University of Queensland and was the second Chancellor of the University serving from 1915 to 1922.
