Abstract/Summary This photo, taken around 1964 is the John Hines building, once known as the Biochemistry building. Officially opened by Princess Alice on 8 June 1962, the building was later re-named in July 1978 to honour Professor John Hines. Professor Hines was the Dean of Science from 1963 to 1971 and was responsible for the early development of Biochemistry at The University of Queensland. He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science in 1971 and elected Emeritus Professor in 1972. He passed away in 1975.
