Formatted abstract
Changing global demographics have prompted new thinking about policy concerning mental health priorities in later life. The article focuses on an increasingly older global population which is being seen across the globe in 2013 and presents an overview of the challenges that confront older people and the health care systems that care for them in developed and developing countries. A discussion of the impact that changing global demographics are having on mental health issues in older people, mental health services and mental health policies across the globe is presented.
