Additional Notes The Architecture of Industry examines the state of architecture and urbanism within three powerhouse sectors of the Australian economy: mining, tourism and higher education. The resources boom and the shift towards a service based economy have long been the reality in Australia, but the effects of these industries on rural and urbanized areas are still largely unexplored? What role, if any, are architects and urban designers playing within this dynamic? This project will attempt to situate the disciplines of architecture and urban design within an updated and historically sensitive relationship with industry.
