Formatted Abstract/Summary
Photographs of the Mayne family on holiday in New Zealand, Jan 1897.

One of the University of Queensland's first and most significant benefactors, Dr James O'Neil Mayne and his younger sister, Mary Emelia Mayne, made the University's move to its current St Lucia site possible with donations amounting to sixty thousand pounds between 1927 and 1929. The money paved the way for the Brisbane City Council to resume 110 hectares of farming land at St Lucia for the University.
