Abstract Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate gland enlargement is a common condition in older men often causing urinary symptoms to varying degrees including: a weak urine stream, difficulty starting or stopping urinating, dribbling at the end of urination, frequent or urgent need to urinate, nocturia, straining while urinating, incomplete bladder emptying, urinary tract infections, reduced kidney function and formation of bladder stones.
