Abstract/Summary The Lebanese, in common with all immigrants to New South Wales (NSW) have made many contributions to the cultural landscape of the State. This thematic history describes a number of characteristics of the history of Lebanese settlement in the State and the ways in which this experience differs from other immigrant groups. Their contributions especially need to be viewed in the context of the following themes: Migration, Commerce and Labour, Rural Settlement and Urban Settlement, Religion, Leisure and Social Institutions, Sport, and Public Office and Civic Affairs. Understanding the significance of these themes will influence the way researchers view potential heritage sites and items. [Introduction extract]
