Formatted Abstract/Summary
Marine sponges of the order Verongidae such as Aplysina, Verongula, Psammaplysilla and Pseudoceratina are a rich source of bromotyrosine-derived compounds. Chemical studies show that the secondary metabolites derived from bromotyrosine possess a wide range of structurally unusual chemistry, ranging from simple modified tyrosines, for example aeroplysinin-1 (1), to more elaborate linear compounds such as fistularin-3 (2)
