Project description U.S. Survey is a research programme that aims to identify large-scale, geographical, infrastructural interventions in which the overlay of the artificial over the natural is of prime relevance. It does so in the context of the U.S. for it is a rich territory for such a combination. Contrary to the case of the majority of urban sites and artificial landscapes of Eurasia or Africa, most of today consolidated American such sites (with the exception of the settlements of the Native American Indians) were in their origins devoid of a consolidated man-made tradition. For that reason we believe the U.S. is an ideal territory for the exploration of the overlay of geometrical constructions onto prominent and untamed geographical features.
