Formatted Abstract/Summary
This collaboration with eurythmist Jan Baker-Finch forms part of my ongoing practice-based research interest in the way music and dance interact. With the composer's endorsement we built a music/movement interpretation of William Duckworth's 'Time Curve Preludes', 24 brief 'meditations on finitude'. Appearing in 1979 the preludes were hailed as one of the best major works of the decade. The added interpretation through movement has the potential to reveal and highlight sometimes unnoticed dimensions of the works and the collaboration pushes each artist, and the audience, to listen anew to the pieces.
