Formatted Abstract/Summary
Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, CT., world premiere of Einojuhani Rautavaara’s “Clarinet Concerto”, small ensemble arrangement, with Richard Stolzman, 2008.

This performance at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival was the world premiere of Einojuhani Rautavaara’s “Clarinet Concerto”, in small ensemble arrangement, with Richard Stolzman, internationally renowned clarinettist. This project was especially notable for the fact that from July 6th to 12th I was involved in transcribing the concerto from full orchestral score to small ensemble (two pianos, percussion). Richard Stolzman enlisted my help in creating a convincing arrangement; issues of texture, balance, and musical colour were explored in a highly creative and investigative manner.
