Abstract/Summary This paper presents the results of an experimental simulation of methane gas flow behaviour in drainage boreholes by examining the variation of gas temperature. A laboratory rig has been developed and utilised to simulate the drainage boreholes. Compressed air is considered to be the working fluid. The flow temperatures have been measured by Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) in a series of experiments at different gas flow rates. The results of this study show variations in the gas temperature as the gas flow rate changes.
