A super-orbital expansion tube was used to generate moderate and high enthalpy chemically reacting carbon-dioxide flows. The flow over a cylinder was imaged using holographic interferometry and the density and electron concentrations were determined. Fast response thermocouples were used to measure the stagnation point heat flux. A simple one-dimensional model of the flow was used to calculate values for comparison.
