Abstract Retrobulla angelae n. gen. and n. sp. (Digenea: Cryptogonimidae) is described from the small intestine and pyloric ceca of the spangled perch, Leiopotherapon unicolor (Gunther), from Queensland, Australia. The genus is distinguished within the Cryptogonimidae by the combination of having the genital pore anterior but the gonotyl posterior to the acetabulum, a single testis and absence of cercarial eye-spot pigment. The genus is not assigned to a subfamily. A metacercaria presumed to be that of R. angelae is described from the flesh of the purple-spotted gudgeon, Mogurnda mogurnda (Richardson). It is suggested that the cercaria of this species lacks eye-spots.
