Formatted Abstract/Summary
Reaching each child with vaccines is at the centre of all vaccination activities. This study aimed to evaluate the documentation of patients’ immunisation status at presentation to an Emergency Department (ED) and identify opportunities to vaccinate.

This study demonstrated that there are opportunities for vaccination with children presenting to ED and these opportunities are being missed. Strategies may need to focus on improved history taking and documentation. Identifying staff knowledge, attitudes and practices, and parents’ willingness to accept vaccination, are additional focuses for research that may identify further barriers to opportunistic vaccinating in the ED.
