Formatted abstract This paper presents a comparative study of modulation scheme for three phase voltage source inverter. In traditional voltage source inverter (VSI) each switch have 120º or 180º conduction period. To enhance the power quality of output voltage different schemes are proposed in between 120º and 180º for resistive loads. It has been found that as the conduction period of switches increases from 120º towards 180º, the magnitude of output voltage increases. Further this benefit is nullified as the magnitude of harmonics also increases. Simulated results using PSIM software considering the harmonics up to 49th order show the validity of proposed scheme.
